My First Impressions
The smell of the product was the first (and definitely not the last) thing to hit me. Unfortunately, it did not smell good at all, more like a very old crayon. I wondered if it was the oils in the product that had aged badly, but it was quite strong when opening the packaging and I had to leave it out for a while for the smell to dissipate.
I was surprised to see that the texture was more powdery than expected, considering the oily base in the ingredients. At first contact it felt more like a balm, but after blending it became a bit chalky. You can get a lot of product onto the brush, so it’s best to give it a good tap before applying onto your face. I also found it can be quite strong on application, so I had to ensure I placed my brush correctly and really blend it in. The main areas I apply highlighter are under my eyebrows and on my cheekbones.
On the glam scale, the glow you get from a single stroke is definitely almost blinding. It has more of a dewy look, with a sense of depth, which is perfect for a summer holiday vibe.
My current highlighter is from Sleek- Cleopatra’s Kiss; it’s a lot more powder based than Kas Beauty, however not as easy to pick up on my brush. As I personally look for a more subtle glow, I find that being able to slowly build up coverage works for me.
Therefore, I found Kas Beauty to be a lot more pigmented and visual on my face, with just one stroke. I do like the colour, and I think it would be better suited to glam or holiday looks, rather than an everyday shimmer.
